Orangutans Borneo Tour

Borneo or Kalimantan is one of the few places in the world where orangutans can be seen in the wild!  Observe Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Gibbons, Tarsiers and other primate species in their natural habitat. Enjoy the Klotok river boat experience and the dense forest.

ITINERARY

Day 01:  Pangkalanbun – Tanjung putting [-/-/D]

Orangutan tours starting at pangkalan Bun Airport,  meet and greet by our Asian explore local guide then transfer to Kumai for boat transfer. The boat is a traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 10m by 2m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide’s team includes the boatman, a cook and expert guide. Lunch is served on the way to Tanjung Putting. Enjoy the cruise up to the peaceful jungle for about two hours while we slowly explore the quiet river by klotok observing the proboscis monkeys alongside the river or might be there is a possibility to see the Orangutan lying down on their nest or hunting the food flying from one tree to another.

Lunch at own arrangement. Dinner and accommodations at the RIMBA LODGE (AC Room)

Day 02:  Orangutan exploration at camp leaky  [B/L/D]

Breakfast at the lodge. Half day trekking exploring The Orang Utans and Natai Lengkuas for proboscis monkey’s research for feeding time at 11:30. We continue to Camp Leaky with short trekking into the rain forest. The camp was established in 1971 to support research activities in Tanjung Puting Wildlife Reserve. Now this area also functions as orangutans rehabilitation center. Over the years, the camp has served the research efforts of several scientists and students. Tourist will be able to walk on certain trails of the trail system without disturbing the research activities. Here you will also be able to see the orangutan’s feeding time around 14.00 before returning to the lodge. Lunch will be provided en route.

Dinner and accommodations at the RIMBA LODGE (AC Room)

Day 03:  Rimba Lodge – Departure [B/-/-]

Breakfast at the lodge. After breakfast at the hotel, prepare for transfer out by boat cruising back to Kumai River harbor where our car is waiting for the transfer to the airport to catch the flight for your next destination.

This ‘Orangutans Borneo Tour’  includes:
        • 2-night stay at Rimba Lodge based on twin-sharing (2 persons per room)
        • Meals mentioned in the itinerary as specified (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)
        • Return airport transfer based on private basis in a chauffeured, fully air-conditioned vehicle
        • Boat trips based on private basis with activities as indicated in the itinerary
        • Professional and licensed English-speaking guide
        • Applicable entrance fee and ranger fee at Borneo National Park
